Embrace your weird

What’s your all-time favorite album?

This is a hard one to answer, but this early album from Talking Heads called 77 would have to be the one. It was one of the first vinyl albums I bought when I was in my late teens and this album has stayed with me ever since.

It has some similar styles to the Beatles that I really loved as a kid, listening to my mothers albums. And Talking heads took this pop style, added some incredibly funky grooves and weird jerky vocals that don’t always make much sense and turned it into something weird that I really connected with.

I suppose bringing the blog back to my continued theme of thriving artists. I suppose my takeaway from Talking Heads is to embrace your weird as an artist and do your own thing. The band has had its moments of mainstream popularity, but has essentially stuck to just doing their own thing. Experimenting with different styles over the years while retaining a sound that was uniquely theirs.
