What’s the trait you value most about yourself?
To not give up. I’m a consistent worker, so when I get in the groove I find it hard to change track. This can be a great trait given you are on the correct course. However, how do you know if you are heading in the right direction. I keep thinking of that cartoon of the miner giving up on digging his tunnel right before hitting gold. How do you know? The problem is you’ll never know, but if it’s me doing the tunnelling I’ve probably taken it much further than anyone else.
I’ve created 367 videos on YouTube and I still get a handful of views per video. I’ve created 232 NFT’s and haven’t cashed out any money yet. I’ve illustrated two kids books and I’m still doing other work to pay the bills. I’ve written 3 feature film scripts that haven’t seen the light of day. This is certainly one way you can look at it. A depressing non healthy way to discover you are a no hoper, a loser – only joking… kinda..: that’s where the voice in my head tends to go tho.
Instead I could say my videos have been watched 17, 237 times. I’ve sold about 150 NFT’s for the equivalent of $1000 Australian dollars. I’ve illustrated two kids book, just that fact alone I think is pretty cool. And the fact that someone trusted me to bring their vision to life is also amazing. I’ve spent many hours writing films, to hone my storytelling skills. This is the other way I could look at exactly the same information.
One way is going to crush my soul and the other is going to inspire me to keep going, to keep digging my hole in the ground. I think part of the key is to learn how you can enjoy digging your hole in the ground, enjoy the process. Because then I think I could possibly be unstoppable, it’s all just a matter of perspective.
