Inktober 2023 Challenge

What skill would you like to learn?

I’d like to up my art skills, in particular using the Procreate drawing app that is available on iPad and also has a pocket version available for iPhones. It’s such a powerful drawing app with so many features which I feel I’m hardly using.

This months Inktober challenge is a good example of why it’s great to be proficient in using the app. Especially for someone like me who only has about 30mins in the morning to come up with something for the Inktober daily prompts. Just a simple feature like the symmetry tool allows what ever you are drawing on one side of the page to be mirrored on the other side of the page, a feature that can literally cut your illustration time in half. This is also a feature that I’m using to draw animal faces for my Uncommon Animals of the Alphabet kids book.

I’d also love how to learn how to create my own brushes for Procreate. Selling your unique brushes is also something that can become a good revenue stream for artists.

There is also an animation app that Procreate will be releasing soon, and that’s something that I’m really interested in doing.

So by learning everything that Procreate can do, I’ll be able to illustrate quicker, make corrections quicker, and be able to create what’s in my head easier. So it’s definitely going to be a very valuable tool for me to learn.
