Your Artistic Community

What makes a good neighbor?

The things that make a good neighbour will also help you be a thriving artist.

Community is a massive thing for thriving artists and if you are an active, caring and supportive community member maybe your neighbours or community will be there for you when you need help. It’s like that saying of the rising tide lifts all boats… or something like that. Help others and build them up and the good vibes will find their way back to your yard.

I’m not saying be artificial, find your tribe, find other artists that you vibe with and create your own neighbourhood. That’s the great thing about creating your own creative online community is that you get to choose all the cool people to live in your neighbourhood. Help each other out where you can. Support each other where you can. Offer advice where you can. Generally be helpful, get involved, start conversations and learn from the people in your neighbourhood.

Since I’ve embarked on my creative journey, I started the Fork in the Road podcast. A podcast where I often interview other creative people in my neighbourhood that I vibe with and think are interesting creative types. These people have been from all over the world and the creative conversations that we have had, have been not only educational but motivational and inspirational. You see talking with your creative community is an essential part of being a thriving artist. We help each other, we lift each other up, we let each other know that we are not alone on our creative journeys through the struggles and successes.
