Do lazy days make you feel rested or unproductive?
Lazy days make me feel rested and unproductive at the same time. However I must say that I haven’t had one lazy day in a little over a year, after taking on our cafe Gallery business.
Actually I did have a lazy day on Christmas with my family. But I suppose what I’m trying to say is that I don’t have many ‘lazy’ days. And any parents out there can vouch for the fact that a day off with small kids is far from what I’d consider a lazy day. So this is me saying lazy days are not just good for artists, but they are essential and that I should schedule some in… somehow.
You see I think that endless creativity that you see in kids comes from boredom. Every time I hear my kids say that they are bored, I find them doing something highly creative in the next five minutes. They may have made up a game, created a cubby house out of the furniture or started drawing on the walls 😆 No, no I don’t mean that they get naughty but they do get very inventive with their play. And I think as artists we need that space, that boredom to allow our brains to be creative and see where our imaginations can take us.
