High Vibe Artist

My flying fish artwork, adapted from Uncommon Animals of the Alphabet, showcases a unique blend of influences from messy street art styles. The piece features a flying fish soaring through the clouds—a remarkable feat symbolising the pursuit of dreams. However, this ascent comes at the cost of other layers, with splashes of pink, red, and purple representing the struggles and sacrifices that accompany such ambition. This artwork is essentially uplifting, infused with a sense of cynical humor and realism. It questions how one can perform amazing tricks and achieve greatness while simultaneously grinding away at life’s difficult challenges.

What’s the first impression you want to give people?

I would like to be a high vibration sort of person, that happens to be an artist. You know one of those positive people with a smile on their face and nice things to say. Since starting the cafe that’s the kind of person I’ve been working on being, because nobody wants to hang out with a misery guts… even if they are making you a delicious coffee.

Even when people are trying their hardest to be miserable, I try and help them see a lighthearted view of the situation. I listen to them, talk to them and take an interest in them, their lives and most importantly I remember their names and the coffee that they have.

I would like peoples first impression of me to be welcoming and friendly. Initially because I believe that’s my job as a cafe owner but just because I want to be a cheerful part of everyone’s day. Now as an introvert I find this extremely tiring but it feels rewarding at the same time. Now as a relative newcomer to my small town of 1500 people everyone seems to know me by name and greet me with a smile. And for someone with what I would have considered to have a very bad memory, I can now tell you most peoples names, a little bit about them and most importantly what coffee they drink.

Now to bring this back to the thriving artist as I always do, I think your approach has to be the same. Social media is social, so get to know your community in the comments section. Take an interest in their story and what they are up to. Lift the community up around you and spread some good vibes. Because as the saying goes ‘The rising tide lifts all boats’
