Creative Patterns

I’ve always been drawn into the brain melting world of optical illusions, and this piece from my Optical Delusion series, called Frost, captures that fascination perfectly. This design draws inspiration from the delicate, symmetrical patterns found in frost on a cold morning, using black and white to play tricks on the eyes. With its overlapping shapes and repeating snowflake-like forms, Frost creates an illusion of depth and movement, making it feel as if the image is alive, just as frost crystals seem to grow and shift across a window.

What’s your favorite month of the year? Why?

For me, October takes the crown. There’s something about it that sparks my creativity more than any other month, making it my most productive time of year. Perhaps it’s the warmth creeping back into the air, the days stretching a little longer, or simply the sense of renewal that spring brings. Whatever it is, October feels like the ideal time to tackle big projects and get into a productive rhythm.

If I were planning my life as a thriving artist, I’d definitely aim to focus on my most important work during this period. Knowing when you’re at your creative peak can be incredibly helpful. For some, that might mean early mornings, while for others, late nights are their sweet spot. Paying attention to those creative patterns can make all the difference.

Personally, I find that the quiet of the night or the first light of dawn is when my ideas flow best. After a full day, it’s harder for me to dive into creative work, but I know that some artists thrive precisely in that post-work downtime.

If you’re trying to tap into your own creative rhythms, journaling can be a valuable tool. Tracking when you feel most inspired or productive might reveal surprising insights, helping you make the most of those moments when creativity is at its peak. Not every moment will be ideal for creating, but some are definitely better than others.

And, in other news, I’m thrilled to share that one of my Choose Buslife T-shirts recently found a new home in the UK! This design was inspired by our journey of converting an old school bus into a cozy, mobile home. We even started a podcast of the same name—though it’s been on hiatus after a couple of episodes. Who knows, maybe one day we’ll pick it up again.- Choose Buslife Podcast.
