Who are the biggest influences in your life?
In the random patchwork quilt of my creative journey, the threads of influence are woven from diverse sources that have shaped my perspective and fueled my artistic passion. Among these influential figures are Gary Vee, Banksy, Alfred Hitchcock, Salvador Dali, the Pixies and Talking Heads. Each one has contributed a unique hue to the canvas of my artistic expression.
- Gary Vee – Unleashing Entrepreneurial Zeal: Gary Vee’s relentless entrepreneurial spirit and emphasis on the hustle have been a guiding force. He’s responsible for me deciding to document my creative journey in Vlog, podcast and blog form. His candid insights into the business world have instilled in me a drive to embrace challenges, learn from failures, and persist in the pursuit of my goals. As Gary says ‘There has never been a better time than now to earn a living, doing what you love’.
- Banksy – The Art of Subversion: Banksy’s enigmatic street art challenges societal norms, sparking thought-provoking conversations. His ability to communicate powerful messages through visual expressions has inspired me to push boundaries and use art as a means of social commentary.
- Alfred Hitchcock – Master of Suspense: Hitchcock’s cinematic brilliance in creating suspense and psychological thrillers has left an indelible mark on my storytelling approach. Learning from his mastery of suspense, I aim to captivate audiences with narratives that linger in the shadows of anticipation.
- Salvador Dali – Surreal Dreamscape: Dali’s surrealistic vision has opened my mind to the boundless possibilities of imagination. His melting clocks and distorted realities remind me to embrace the unconventional, infusing my work with a touch of the surreal to provoke thought and emotion.
- Pixies – Sonic Revolutionaries: The Pixies, with their raw and unapologetic sound, have influenced my musical taste and inspired my creativity. Their fearless approach to genre-blending has encouraged me to break free from creative constraints.
- Talking Heads – Artistic Innovation in Sound: Talking Heads’ fusion of new wave, punk, and world music has been a sonic revelation. Their commitment to pushing the boundaries of sound resonates with my desire to fearlessly mix genres and create my own visual groove.
So with my creative mix of influences, Gary Vee’s entrepreneurial zeal, Banksy’s subversive art, Hitchcock’s suspenseful narratives, Dali’s surreal dreamscape, the Pixies’ sonic revolution, and Talking Heads’ artistic innovation converge to shape the artist I am today. One thing I notice as a similar through line is what I like to call a punk aesthetic. By this I mean challenging ideas and common systems, and to not be too precious about perfection. A strong message and passion for your craft will always be far more interesting in my book.

From reading that, I think you will definitely mix genres and create your own visual groove. Mixing genres sounds exciting. You have a clear vision. Wishing you every success on your creative journey. 😊

Good for you! I have an eclectic personality and tend to mix things up. It’s good to do things in your own way and not follow the crowd.
