The Art of Decluttering

Where can you reduce clutter in your life?

This is more of a wish list on where I’d like to be and where I’d like to take my creative practice, but it’s hard. I’ve been a minimalist before and I believe I can be one again. As a thriving artist, I think embracing minimalism and reducing clutter can lead to enhanced focus, increased productivity, and a more sustainable practice. But being a part of a family with young kids minimalism isn’t always practical, but I thought I’d mess around with the idea anyway.

Decluttering my physical space can create a serene and inspiring environment. I’ve found that a clear space can help with focus and mental clarity, allowing my artistic ideas to flow seamlessly. And not be focused on the mess, the cleaning and the chores I ‘should’ be doing. So it’s either be Artistically blocked and muddle ahead. Or clean and tidy the road ahead for my artistic adventures to unfold. However, often times by the time I’ve finished cleaning and tidying there is no time left to create art, it’s a conundrum for sure.

Id also like to embrace digital tools and platforms for project management, artwork documentation and print on demand services. This not only reduces the physical clutter but also minimises the need for paper and other consumables. I think the journey to becoming a thriving artist is intertwined with the pursuit of simplicity, both in the creative process and the physical space that nurtures it. As always it’s just a matter of finding that balance.
