The Boredom of Conformity

Sticking my Hypno Bat on your laptop, water bottle, or wherever you please isn’t just about cool art—it’s a statement. Those hypnotic eyes? They don’t just stare; they challenge.

It’s a knowing look, a playful nod to the push and pull of conformity. It says: I know that you know that I know. You can try to mesmerize me, but I see through it. I won’t fall in line just because the world expects me to.

– Hypno Bat Sticker –

This isn’t just a sticker; it’s a declaration of independence. A symbol for those who think differently, question everything, and refuse to be swayed by the trance of the ordinary.

Stick it, own it, and stay true to yourself.

What bores you?

In a world where societal norms often dictate our paths, breaking free from the mundane and embracing our true passions can be a daunting yet eventful journey. As a wannabe thriving artist, the allure of creativity and self-expression beckons like an early morning coffee, urging us to abandon the mundane and pursue our dreams with unwavering determination.

For many, myself included, the realisation of life’s brevity strikes like a bolt of lightning, igniting a fervent desire to seize every moment and make it count. Having experienced the loss of both my parents and now nurturing two young kiddos, the fragility of our existence has never been more apparent. In the face of loss and responsibility, the notion of leading a life devoid of passion and purpose becomes utterly intolerable.

The mundane monotony of past jobs serves as a stark reminder of the fleeting nature of time. While each employment opportunity undoubtedly imparted valuable life lessons, they also underscored the undeniable truth that life is too precious to squander on endeavors that fail to ignite our souls.

In the pursuit of artistic fulfillment, waiting for validation or permission from others is an exercise in futility. The only permission you need is your own, and the only validation required is the unwavering belief in your creative vision. Aspiring artists must heed the call of their inner muse and embark on their creative odyssey without hesitation or reservation.

The life of an artist is not without its trials and tribulations. Financial uncertainty, societal scrutiny, and self-doubt often loom like formidable adversaries on the path to creative fulfillment. However, the rewards far outweigh the challenges, for there is an unparalleled sense of satisfaction that accompanies the act of bringing one’s artistic visions to life.

Embracing the life of an artist is a radical act of defiance against the mundane and a testament to the transformative power of creativity. It is a declaration of autonomy and a refusal to conform to societal expectations. It is an affirmation of the inherent worthiness of our dreams and ambitions, no matter how audacious they may seem.

So, to all the aspiring artists out there, I implore you: seize the day, unleash your creativity, and dare to live a life less ordinary. The world is your canvas, and your potential is limitless. Don’t wait for permission, don’t wait for validation—just create. For in the pursuit of artistic fulfillment lies the antidote to boredom and the key to a life truly well-lived.

  1. I savoured every bit of this post Andy, and appreciate the messages and wisdom within. Life is fleeting in the grand scheme of things. None of us know when our time will be up. Time is a precious gift! Living a life doing what we love with passion and joy, a life lived with purpose and meaning is something worth aiming for! It would be sad to get to the end of days with the writing, the music, the art still inside and unexpressed! Thank you for this beautifully crafted and articulate post!
