My Artistic Escape from the Fast-Paced Cafe Life

How do you unwind after a demanding day?

After a crazy day of making coffees, serving meals, and managing the hustle and bustle of our fast-paced cafe, there’s nothing quite like the solace I find in my sketchbook. As much as I enjoy digital illustration, there’s a certain magic in putting pencil to paper that transports me to a place of calm amidst the chaos.

Sketching has become my go-to method for unwinding and getting into the zone after a hectic day. I forget all about the stresses and troubles of the day as I lose myself in the creative process.

Beyond the immediate benefits of relaxation and self-expression, engaging in artistic pursuits like sketching offers a myriad of other advantages. For one, it stimulates creativity as I develop new skills and styles. As I experiment with different techniques and compositions, I’m constantly challenging myself to think outside the box.

Making art is a form of mindfulness practice. When I’m fully immersed in the act of sketching, I become acutely aware of my surroundings and sensations, grounding me in the present moment. It’s a form of meditation that allows me to quiet the noise of the outside world and connect with my inner self.

Additionally, engaging in artistic activities has been shown to reduce stress and improve overall mental well-being. The sense of accomplishment that comes with creating something can have a calming effect on the mind, helping to alleviate anxiety and promote a sense of peace.

In the end, whether it’s sketching, digital illustration or any other form of artistic expression, the act of creating art holds a special place in my heart. It’s a sanctuary where I can escape the demands of the outside world and reconnect with myself on a deeper level. And for that, I am endlessly grateful.
