Today, I’m thrilled to share my limited edition run of prints from Uncommon Animals of the Alphabet: the aardvark. This creature holds a special place in my heart, and my connection with it goes back many years to my high school art and design days.
One of my favorite projects back then was creating a record label, and thus, Aardvark Records was born. I was captivated by the aardvark’s quirky charm and decided to feature it as the centerpiece of the label. Picture this: psychedelic swirls with an aardvark head smack in the middle. It was cool, unique, and undeniably memorable. Plus, with a name like Aardvark Records, you’d definitely be at the top of any alphabetical list of record labels. Not that it was the main reason, but it was a fun bonus!

What makes a teacher great?
Art and design classes were my sanctuary in high school—no surprise there. What made them truly special was my teacher, who encouraged me to pursue ideas that sparked my interest. All our projects were student-led, driven by our passions, and I firmly believe that’s where real learning happens. When you’re working on something you love, it doesn’t feel like work at all.
So, here I am, years later, still enamored with the aardvark. This first print from my limited edition series is a nod to those formative days, blending my past inspirations with my current creative vision. Each print is a labor of love, capturing the essence of the aardvark’s unique charm and my enduring affection for this quirky animal.
As I launch this series, I hope it inspires others to reconnect with their own creative roots. Whether it’s an old school project or a childhood fascination, there’s something profoundly rewarding about revisiting and reimagining those early inspirations. For me, it’s the aardvark—a reminder of where I started and a symbol of the boundless creativity that continues to drive me.
This limited edition print is more than just a piece of art; it’s a celebration of passion, creativity, and the joy of following your interests. I’m excited to share it with you and hope it brings a touch of whimsical charm to your space, just as it has to mine.
Feel free to share your own stories of creative inspiration and the projects that have stuck with you over the years. Let’s celebrate the unique and the uncommon together, one print at a time.
