What brings you peace?

Have you ever stumbled upon a giant coconut crab, clinging to your bin or hiding behind your bedroom door? If not, you’re in for a treat! My latest creation involves releasing a set of uncommon animal stickers, featuring the quirky and captivating coconut crab. These stickers are perfect for brightening up any space, and their unexpected appearances are sure to surprise and delight anyone who discovers them. They bring a touch of whimsy and charm to the everyday, allowing you to make this uncommon beauty a part of your world.

What brings you peace?

In the midst of a life bursting with activity and noise, finding peace can feel like chasing after a wisp of smoke—fleeting, elusive, yet profoundly essential. As a father of two energetic young girls—one immersed in the whirlwind of school and the other embracing the adventures of homeschooling—peace often seems like a distant dream. Add to this the responsibility of owning and running a bustling six-day-a-week café and art gallery, building a regenerative hobby farm from scratch, and converting an old school bus into a tiny home, and you’ve got a recipe for chaos.

Despite the frenetic pace of life, I hold a vision of the future that keeps me grounded: a tranquil existence on our family hobby farm, where I can relax, grow food, and create art. That’s my idea of a perfect life. But for now, my peace comes in small, cherished moments scattered throughout the day.

Morning Solitude

One of my most peaceful moments is walking to work with my dog in the stillness of the early morning. At 5 a.m., the world is cloaked in darkness, and there’s a serene calmness that envelops me. This quiet solitude, shared only with the gentle sound of my dog’s paws on the road, offers a moment of reflection and respite before the day’s demands take hold.

The Creative Oasis

But perhaps my favorite time of day when I truly find peace is when I’m illustrating. In the rare moments when I can indulge in creativity, the chaos fades away, leaving only the rhythmic scratch of my pencil on paper. These precious pockets of time often emerge between pouring coffees during the pre-breakfast shift or after dinner, when my children are busy drawing or crafting. These creative moments, though brief, are my sanctuary.

Stealing Moments of Tranquility

In a life as hectic as mine, finding peace is about embracing the small opportunities to pause and reflect. Sitting out back of the café with my lunch and a sketch pad, I savor the brief respite from the hustle. While progress on my projects is slow, the act of exercising my creative urges enriches my life in countless ways. It allows me to connect with my inner self and nurture the dreams that drive me forward.

The Journey to Completion

One day, I hope to finish my uncommon animals kids’ book—a labor of love that embodies my passion for art and storytelling. Until then, I’ll continue to seek out peace wherever I can find it, knowing that every stroke of the pen brings me closer to realising my dreams. Life may be chaotic, but within that chaos lies the potential for growth, creativity, and ultimately, peace.

Finding peace amidst the chaos is an art in itself, one that requires patience, resilience, and a little bit of creativity. As I navigate the complexities of life, I’m reminded that peace isn’t a destination—it’s a journey. And while the journey may be long and winding, each step brings me closer to the vision of a life where creativity and tranquility coexist harmoniously. Until that day comes, I’ll keep my fingers crossed, my pencil sharp, and my heart open to the possibilities that lie ahead.
