Keep moving forward, one small step at a time.

I’m thrilled to announce that one of my limited edition Dumbo Octopus prints has found a home all the way in Dallas, Texas! That’s right—this little deep-sea marvel has traveled from Jamestown, South Australia, across the globe to land in a fellow art and animal lovers home. It’s amazing to see my work reaching new corners of the world, and I couldn’t be more excited about it.

There are only 10 of these limited edition prints in existence, so knowing that one is already on display in Texas is a huge milestone. It’s moments like these that make all the hard work worthwhile. Between running a café art gallery, being a dad to two young kids, starting a regenerative hobby farm, and converting a school bus into a tiny home, life can get pretty chaotic. But this sale is a reminder that even when the progress feels slow, the end results are something to celebrate.

This Dumbo Octopus print is more than just a piece of art—it’s a symbol of the journey I’m on. Each goal, whether it’s finishing my kids’ book Uncommon Animals of the Alphabet, or creating art that resonates with people, is part of a bigger dream. And every step forward, no matter how small, is worth celebrating.

How do you plan your goals?

Setting goals has always been part of my process, though I must admit, it’s more of a slow grind than a quick sprint. When I say slow, I mean it. I’ve learned to embrace the art of picking away at a project, inch by inch, like the meticulous process of peeling a stubborn label off a jar. Take this kids’ book, for instance—I chip away at it between pouring coffee’s or late night creative bouts of insomnia. There’s a lot on my plate, and somehow I keep piling on more.

But in all seriousness, I have a clear vision of where I want to be. The long-term goal? Picture me on that farm, living the self-sufficient life—growing our food, treading lightly on the land, giving back to the environment, all while creating loads of art and making enough money to live comfortably. It’s a beautiful, idealistic vision that keeps me motivated even when the daily chaos feels overwhelming.

The short-term goal is simpler: just finish the kids’ book. Easier said than done, but I’ll get there eventually. The road may be winding and full of detours, but I’m committed to the journey. If I can manage to turn all of this chaos into something meaningful, well, that’s a victory in itself. So here’s to setting goals, no matter how slowly we reach them—and to the art that keeps us moving forward, one small step at a time.
