TV will rot your brain

I Remember when my parents used to tell me that too much TV would rot my brain. Well, I’m living proof that they were right—sort of. My brain has been well and truly marinated in decades of spooky, kooky, and bizarre television, and now here I am, announcing that my very first Hypno Bat art – out of hundreds of editions – is now available as stickers! So, I guess the moral of the story is: if TV does rot your brain, at least it might lead to some kooky art.

What TV shows did you watch as a kid?

While other kids were probably learning useful life skills or, I don’t know, playing sports, I was glued to the idiot box, absorbing all the weirdness I could find. Shows like Scooby-DooThe Addams FamilyDoctor WhoThe Munsters, and In Search of… were my world. They didn’t just entertain me; they crawled inside my head and set up camp. Now, all these years later, they’re still hanging around up there, influencing everything I create—including my Hypno Bat.

Take Scooby-Doo, for example. The show was a perfect mix of spooky and silly, with just enough absurdity to keep you from actually getting scared. I’m pretty sure that’s where I got the idea for Hypno Bat’s trippy, spiral eyes. Those eyes scream, “I’m here to hypnotize you… but only in a fun, Saturday-morning-cartoon kind of way.”

Then there’s The Addams Family and The Munsters, embracing the strange and unusual. They made it cool to be weird, and that’s something I’ve always admired. Of course, I can’t forget Doctor Who and In Search of…, which are basically responsible for my lifelong obsession with the weird, the mysterious, and the unexplained.

So decades later all that brain-rotting TV has finally transformed into my compulsive creativity. My Hypno Bat is now a sticker, and I couldn’t be more thrilled (or slightly bewildered) to share it with the world. Stick it on your laptop, your notebook, or anywhere else you want to add a touch of the weird and wonderful. Because, let’s face it, life’s more interesting when you embrace your inner oddball.
