Creating art has always been an experiment for me, and my latest floral wallpaper design is no exception. Originally the backdrop for my Xantus Hummingbird, this piece is an exploration of nature’s symmetry and the world of floral patterns. Drawing inspiration from the textile design, I wanted to create something that feels both classic and modern—something that could easily grace the walls of a historic home or a contemporary living space.

The colors in this design, predominantly deep greens and purples, were chosen to evoke a sense of calm and connection to nature. The repeating floral motif, with its structured leaves and blooming flowers, is a celebration of the natural world’s beauty and order. Each element is carefully balanced to create a pattern that feels harmonious and soothing, yet dynamic and full of life.
This design also reflects my love for combining traditional art forms with a modern twist. While the pattern itself could easily be found in vintage wallpapers, the colors and the slight abstraction of the flowers give it a fresh, updated look. It’s this blend of old and new, familiar and unexpected.
Why do you blog?
Blogging has become an essential part of my creative process. It’s more than just sharing my work with the world; it’s about understanding and articulating what I’m trying to achieve as an artist. When I sit down to write about my art, I’m forced to clarify my thoughts and intentions. This act of reflection helps me to focus on my goals and reminds me of the direction I want to take in my creative journey.
One of the most rewarding aspects of blogging is the opportunity it gives me to connect with others who share my passion for art and design. Through these posts, I can share not just the finished product, but also the story behind it—the inspirations, the challenges, and the moments of revelation that occur along the way.
Ultimately, blogging is an act of gratitude. It’s a way to give thanks for the ability to pursue my passion, to acknowledge the support I’ve received, and to connect with a community of like-minded individuals. By talking about what it takes to be a thriving artist, I’m also reminding myself of the artist I aspire to be—one who is not just successful in a commercial sense, but also fulfilled and constantly growing in their craft.
So, whether I’m writing about a new piece of wallpaper or exploring what it means to be an artist, blogging keeps me grounded. It helps me focus on what truly matters in my creative journey and allows me to connect with others in meaningful ways. In sharing my thoughts and my work, I’m not only documenting my progress but also inviting others to join me on this journey.
