Meet the Yeti Crab — a deep-sea enigma wrapped in fuzz and glowing mystery. This yellow crustacean feels like it’s crawled out of a deep-ocean fairytale, equal parts bizarre and beautiful. With hairy claws that farm their own food, a face only a deep-sea mother could love, and a home among steaming hydrothermal vents, the Yeti Crab blurs the line between science and science fiction.
This limited edition print of “Y is for Yeti Crab” celebrates one of the ocean’s most unusual creatures—rarely seen, barely understood, and living in one of the most extreme environments on Earth.

The Yeti Crab was only discovered in 2005 near hydrothermal vents in the South Pacific. It doesn’t have eyes in the traditional sense, but it “sees” its world through chemical cues and thermal changes. Its hairy, bacteria-coated arms help it survive in toxic, boiling waters by harvesting microbes to eat—a lifestyle as strange as it is fascinating.
This artwork blends my signature wallpaper with stylised character design from my kids’ book Uncommon Animals of the Alphabet. The yellow thermal vent background pulses with deep-sea drama, while the fluffy-clawed crab pops with curiosity and charm. It’s bold, curious, and just the right amount of weird—perfect for a kid’s room, a marine biology enthusiast’s wall, or anyone whose name begins with Y.
Each piece is printed with archival inks on gallery-quality paper, hand-signed, and numbered 1–10. Once they’re gone, they’re gone.
