Favourite Parts of the Day

One of the things we do as a family is go around the table at the end of the day and share our favourite moments. It might be something big, but more often than not, it’s something small — like spotting a funny cloud, getting a good parking spot, or finally nailing the perfect boiled egg. It’s a simple tradition, but it helps us notice the good in our day. It’s a quiet way to practice gratitude.

And it got me thinking…

As an artist, I have plenty of “big” favourite moments — like finishing a kids’ book, seeing my art turned into wall prints, or the first time someone bought a mug with one of my uncommon animals on it. But the truth is, my real favourite moments — the ones that keep me coming back — are the tiny ones.

Like when I’m working on a pattern and something unexpected happens. I’m zoomed in, tweaking a crab claw or a line of shadow, and suddenly I spot it — a hidden rhythm in the shapes. The claws line up just right. The background swirls form a wave. It clicks.

It’s not loud or dramatic, but it makes me pause. It’s a small flash of satisfaction, discovery, or joy — and it’s these tiny moments that fill my day, especially as someone who creates art almost every single day.

Describe one of your favorite moments.

I was building a repeating pattern for my Yeti Crab artwork — this wonderfully strange deep-sea creature with golden shells and fuzzy arms that farms bacteria on thermal vents (yes, it’s real, and yes, I love it). I’d already drawn the crabs, but something wasn’t sitting right. Then I mirrored the crabs and stood back… and suddenly the space between them looked like underwater rock formations, the kind you’d find in the dark depths where these crabs actually live.

I hadn’t planned that. It just happened.
That tiny moment — when the randomness became rhythm — felt like I’d unlocked a secret in the universe.

10 Yeti Crabs on Uncut

That moment became a wallpaper. And now, it’s also an NFT.

I’ve released a limited edition of just 10 Yeti Crab wallpaper NFTs on the Uncut platform. If you don’t know Uncut, it’s a newer NFT platform built with artists and community in mind. It’s not about hype or status — it’s about connection.

What I love about Uncut is that it encourages interaction. You can share your process, hear from collectors, chat with other artists, and build something together. For someone like me — who often works solo, who creates patterns from odd animals most people haven’t heard of — that sense of community is powerful.

Why Community Matters (to Artists and Yeti Crabs)

Yeti Crabs survive by living together, clinging to hot vents in one of the most hostile environments on the planet. They don’t just survive alone — they thrive because they form little fuzzy‑armed colonies.

It’s kind of the same for artists. Creating can be isolating. But community — whether it’s your family around the dinner table or fellow artists sharing a win online — reminds you that you’re part of something bigger.

We all need someone to say,
“Hey, I love that crab pattern.”
Or,
“That moment you found the symmetry — that’s gold.”

So here’s your invite:
Come check out the Yeti Crab wallpaper NFTs on Uncut. There are only 10. Maybe one will become part of your collection. Maybe it’ll be one of your favourite tiny moments too.

And if nothing else, take a second today to look back and ask yourself:
What was your favourite part of the day?

Chances are, it’s something small.
And that’s the magic.
