Brand Deals for Artists

What brands do you associate with?

I don’t really consider myself a brands person but I suppose there are a few things that I use for my artwork that could be associated with brands… And by the way if any brands would like to sponsor me please don’t be shy and please make yourself known. Because sponsorships and brand deals are definitely a revenue stream for the thriving artist. The only thing is that you usually need to start getting some pretty big numbers on your social media channels before any brands will start looking at you.

The first brand or product/software I’d like to mention is Procreate for digital illustrations. It’s just such a versatile easy to use program, and if there is anything that you aren’t sure how to do there are hundreds of YouTube videos, TikToks and Reels to help you become a wiz in no time. The only downside that I can see with Procreate is that it’s only available for iPad, which is fine for me since my wife won and iPad on Facebook 😆 read that story here a little sideline on manifesting and woo woo stuff. The second book I illustrated for Elijah and Crumpet called Super Scout was entirely created on this iPad using Procreate and it was a dream compared to Elijah and Crumpets first book Motivate Man.

Motivate Man was illustrated entirely on my small screen iPhone 7 using the Adobe Draw app. Particularly due to budget constraints and me refusing to invest in myself. The excuse I was using was if I can completely illustrate a kids book on my phone anyone else with the same pig headed determination could do it as well. Pretty much meaning that almost anyone could do it. I’m sure some people can’t afford a phone but the vast majority of the population do have access to one.

Unfortunately my minimalist approach to art supplies doesn’t make me a prime candidate for brand deals or sponsorships. However in the future I’d love to have a live-streaming set-up for my illustrations. I’d love to draw using the latest technology, and use all the latest supplies, so I’m not ruling this kind of thing out in the future. But for now the simplicity works for me. The simplicity of my set-up also helps with being able to take my art with me wherever I go, to allow me to do as much work as possible.
