Today I got the very exciting news that the last piece of the puzzle, the last bit of paperwork had been approved for our family to move to New Zealand. To some this might come as a shock but it’s something our family have been considering for a long time. And just as we planned on taking that next step the world was sent into chaos. Leaving our plans on hold.
However behind the scenes we kept picking away at it, doing what we could and keeping an eye on the situation. And not really wanting to tell anyone of our plans because, you know, anything could happen and our plans would fall in a heap. They still could fall in a heap, but we are closer than we have ever been.
Our plane tickets, resident visas, managed quarantine and authority to leave Australia are all in place. And we are set to leave on the 6th of April. It’s very sad to leave the place I was born and have lived my whole life. But it’s equal parts exciting that we will get to live somewhere I’ve admired from afar most of my life as well. And the draw was even stronger that my wife is a citizen, with many cool stories to tell about this remarkable place.
With the recent passing of my parents, and being the father to two amazing kids, things get put into sharp perspective. And you realise that your time on this beautiful planet of ours is limited and you need to go for those things that excite you, even if they are well out of your comfort zone. I will be continuing my quest to become a thriving artist and documenting the journey, I’ll just be in a different part of the world.

Best wishes and I hope it works out. I vote Jacinta to be Prime Minister of Australia 🇦🇺
